Since I was working during the games, all I can comment on is that I lost, however, I’m still happy with my picks. Detroit on the Puckline in the long run is a very profitable bet. And after looking in the forums, I was not the only capper that took Colorado. In fact, I think everyone did. I know this sounds stupid, however I would rather lose on a good bet, then win on a bad one. I actually had a last minute bet of Montreal Over which came in, but since I didn’t post it, I won’t count it for stats.
I’m really torn on playing the Vancouver/SJ game. First off, SJ is my kryptonite. There is something about that team that I just cannot cap. Then there is Vancouver, who has put Luongo back in the net as their No.1 goal. Technically he is a better goalie, however there something about watching Schneider play that is magical. He just has a way of stopping those impossible shots that is brilliant. If he was back in the net, I’d say Vancouver wins hands down.
That said, Vancouver is the dog right now. The line is not out with my bookie, however I’m expecting it to be between +110-115. For this game, I’m going on consistency. With the exception of a couple horrible beats (ahem…Columbus, Calgary), they are a tough team. Now look at San Jose. Lost to the ducks (three times). Lost to LA, and won in a shootout. Shutout by St. Louis. Lost to Florida, scratched a win at home to Edmonton. At the end of the day, Vancouver has the slight advantage on the stats against SJ. Plus they have the motivation to win. I don’t really understand what is going on in the goalie camp, but one of two possibilities. Luongo wants to show that Calgary was a fluke or Schneiner, who helped lead Van to a victory against SJ, wants to prove that he is not a second tier goalie.
